Broken Wings

This painting depicts my two sisters and me in Brooklyn, NY, shortly after my father broke his leg in a construction accident. A few months later, he was tragically killed on the job. My mother was four months pregnant with my brother, who would grow to look just like him. Though the title refers to my father’s “broken wing,” it also speaks to how our family was left fractured after his passing.
